Update number 1

Well up above is the topside of the pcb I just drew up, only took about 5 hours, or was it 6..........

Its designed to work as a test/proto board, but I also added connectors and a few transistors so it can go out into the real world and be connected up to real equipment for onsite tests, most proto boards dont.

Simply the f2550, loads of led's to see whats going on, few transistors to switch relays, a usb socket, and a 4 pin header to take off to a serial port, notice no max232, I'll just go the cheap 2 resistor method, tried that before a f88 worked fine, that and I also want to use 5v serial for the phone anyway so no need to level shift.

Now I have to etch it (Toner Transfer) and then drill all the damn holes.........

Welcome

This blog is to keep a record of my work in progress, a pic based gsm car alarm with ability to update via usb.

Besides being an alarm it will also offer remote control of basic car functions, like door locking etc.

Hardware will be based originally on a pic 18f2550, and a t68i, although I hope to change that to a nokia 7110, because I have a few old ones!
